FD 1.0-7 and maxent.test()

Etienne Laliberté - 2010-02-12 13:59 - Functional diversity

The new version 1.0-7 is now available on R-Forge. Additions are maxent.test() which implements the permutation tests of Shipley (2010; Ecology) for maximum entropy (maxent) models. This makes it easy to now test a model generated by maxent().

maxent() now 10x faster

Etienne Laliberté - 2009-12-21 21:57 - Functional diversity

I've tweaked Bill Shipley's FORTRAN routine to speed up maxent() substantially. It's about 10 times faster than the previous version, which used only R code for the while loop, which was the real bottleneck in terms of speed. Comments welcome!

The maximum entropy (maxent) model of trait-based community assembly proposed by Bill Shipley is now on FD. Thanks to Dr Shipley for contributing his R code.

gowdis() and dbFD() now much faster

Etienne Laliberté - 2009-10-26 08:27 - Functional diversity

Version 1.0-1 brings compiled C code to gowdis(), making it MUCH faster. Because dbFD() relies on gowdis(), it should be faster as well.
