trouble with SVN commits

Detailed description
I am perfectly able to commit to various projects I participate in (e.g. bbmle), but I have been having trouble for a while now with the lme4 project.

Committing to bbmle:

bolker@ubuntu-10:~/R/pkgs/bbmle/pkg$ svn commit
Sending pkg/DESCRIPTION
Transmitting file data .
Committed revision 92.

Committing to lme4:

bolker@ubuntu-10:~/R/pkgs/lme4/www/repos$ svn commit
svn: Commit failed (details follow):
svn: Authorization failed
svn: Your commit message was left in a temporary file:
svn: '/mnt/hgfs/bolker/Documents/R/pkgs/lme4/www/svn-commit.4.tmp'

I seem to be a "senior developer" for lme4, and would be surprised if that status had changed -- and I don't see anything obvious that suggests it has.

My last commit to lme4 was apparently

r1306 | bbolker | 2011-04-19 21:06:13 -0400 (Tue, 19 Apr 2011) | 3 lines

but I don't know if that narrows it down very much.

Can you suggest troubleshooting/diagnostic steps?

sincerely
Ben Bolker
