Summary:
Firefox complains about invalid security certificate for mailing list signup

Detailed description
Hello,

Trying to sign up for a mailing list I get big warnings from Firefox:

"This Connection is Untrusted

You have asked Firefox to connect
securely to lists.r-forge.r-project.org, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.

Normally, when you try to connect securely,
sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are
going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified.

What Should I Do?

If you usually connect to
this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is
trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn't continue."

with the following as "technical details":

lists.r-forge.r-project.org uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is only valid for the following names:
r-forge.r-project.org , http://www.r-forge.r-project.org

(Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain)

It looks as though this should be OK, but the warnings are somewhat off-putting. Is it possible to extend the certificate to cover the lists, please?

Thanks in advance,

Keith Ponting

This is known and will be solved after buying a wildcard certificate at the beginning of next year.

Stefan
